We love sharing our setup, and at a recent conference, we took the opportunity to shoot some B-Roll of all the gear we use to capture and live stream an event.

We love sharing our setup, and at a recent conference, we took the opportunity to shoot some B-Roll of all the gear we use to capture and live stream an event.

Gear

Audio

  • Behringer DI20 Ultra-DI 2 Channel DI Box/Splitter - This will remove hum from the signal sent from an audio mixer.

Video

  • Canon XA10 - This camera is compact with great audio inputs. Could do with a better zoom range, though.
  • Canon LEGRIA HF G25 - Excellent image quality and perfect for a wide shot.
  • Manfrotto 190XPRO Aluminium 3 Section Tripod with Manfrotto Micro Fluid Video  - Really like this tripod as it’s compact enough to carry around, but extends to be a solid choice for a moving camera.
  • Manfrotto Befree Aluminium Travel Tripod - Does the job for a wide shot, but I wouldn’t put anything too heavy on it!

Presentation

  • HDMI Splitter - In this case, we use it to split the presentation feed to multiple locations for recording/backup
  • AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable - You can use this to record and feed from the laptop directly to an SD card, or capture it via your own laptop. Be sure to download the RECentral application if you plan on recording straight to your own laptop. See our video about this device here!
  • You’ll also need; A few HDMI cables, an external hard drive, some headphones and SD cards.
