By John Barker • 30 Sept 2025

I just got back from Amsterdam where I attended IBC Show 2025, one of my favorite places to see all the broadcast and live streaming tech. In this video, I share some of the fun things I saw on the show floor, including new products from Elgato, Blackmagic Design, vMix, CloudFlex Broadcast, BirdDog, and RGBlink, plus the people I met along the way.

Back from Amsterdam

I just got back from Amsterdam and I went to IBC show 2025, which is one of my favorite places to go to see all the broadcast and live streaming tech. So, let’s dig into a few fun things I saw on the show floor.

Bitfocus and Elgato

I swung by the Elgato and Bit Focus booth to check out the latest in Bit Focus buttons, which was announced last year at IBC, and it’s nice to see it’s coming together nicely. Lots of new features since we last talked about it, and plenty of demos were given there, I’m sure. that says my eyes were drawn to this new product from Corsair that was on display, the new Xeon Edge, a 14 and 1/2 in touchscreen panel, which was being shown with the virtual Stream Deck buttons. That reminded me a bunch of the video I made here on the channel doing kind of the same thing with a Raspberry Pi and a small touchcreen. So, do check out that video if you haven’t watched it yet. I really do love these widescreen panels for all sorts of use cases on productions in the studio and it’s really nice to see it in person.

Blackmagic Design (ATEM Mini G2 ISO Replay, ProDock)

Typically at IBC, I’d spend a bunch of time at the Blackmagic Design booth seeing all the things that they announced at NAB or anything new for IBC, but that wasn’t really the case this year. This is partially because I was able to go to NAB this year and see all the new things that were announced from Blackmagic. And partially because there was not much new announced for IBC this year. Either way, it was a nice chance to see the A10 Mini ISO G2 in action and watch a full demo of the replay functionality when paired with Da Vinci Resolve and that new Thunderbolt connection on the device. Honestly, the world of Sport Replay is not one that I’m in at all, and having all the footage here in the studio is just not something I have access to. So, seeing it on the show floor is kind of the only place I could actually play with it. Aside from that, I got a hands-on with the Pro Dock made for the new iPhones. We didn’t have access to the iPhone 17s just yet. In fact, they weren’t even out by the time I had this in my hands, so I couldn’t really play with it. It’s sort of a here it is, take a look at it, and maybe in the future, we’ll have a look at it. Probably not here on this channel, but um I’m sure plenty of other folks will.

vMix (New in vMix 29)

Typically on the last day of IBC, V-Mix does their monthly live stream live from the show floor and they did that this year and I was able to swing by the booth and see it in action live. I even made a little appearance in the background. You can just see me dandering past. Totally worth it and it was fun to be there. They were of course showing off the latest additions to V-Mix coming soon, including eight overlays, which is doubled from the previous four. A very welcomed addition, as well as a new programmable go button on every input and OMT. and this is their open-source alternative to NDI. I’m sure we’ll talk about that in the future. Plenty more to come there.

CLOUDflex Broadcast

I spent a bunch of my time with Tucker and Yonas at the CloudFlex broadcast booth where they were giving live demos of Cloud Flex as well as spacecoms.io and I even managed to slip in a few rundown studio demos too. For the first year at IBC, I had a home base where I could always come back to and chat with some friends that I knew. And good for them, spending four days there answering questions, talking to people, giving demos, and all that. It is no small task to stand there for days on end and giving people demos and talking to people. It’s tough work. Also, over the weekend, Jonas and I did a live stream from the show floor where I was wearing this very subtle jacket and I carried a pep link around in a backpack so we could do a fully mobile streaming rig. It was a fun experience. We do like to try and go live at least once when we’re there. So, it was nice to do that once again.

Birddog (MAKI Live and MAKI Studio)

I always like to swing by the bird dog booth and see what they’re up to and what’s new. I spent most of my time giving some feedback on some new toys that they’ve sent to the channel after NAB, the Mackie Live and the Mackie Studio. The Mackie Live is this small little zoom only webcam style camera. It’s got HDMI, USBC, and of course, it sends out an NDI feed across this network and it can be picked up by, among other things, the Mackie Studio system. The Mackie Studio system is half iPad app and half hardware panel. And the two together make for a little portable studio. The app let you bring in cameras, media, graphics, and the hardware panel unlocks the full features of the app, giving you a full little studio here in these two devices. I’ve never been a big fan of running an entire show from just the touchcreen, so having the additional hardware buttons is a really nice to have. Now, I will experiment with this system some more here on the channel in a future video or live stream. So stay tuned for that.

RGB Link had a few interesting things on display and particularly I first saw this Ultra HD switcher, their first small switcher with 4K builtin. This new Mini Max switcher has four HDMI 2.0 inputs as well as two 12G SDI inputs, so you can run a full show in 4K. It’s not something I’ve tried yet other than playing with on the show floor. and I don’t really have much 4K stuff here in the studio, so I think I’ll probably let other channels take a look at it and really put it through its paces when it comes out.

Osee, Yolobox and the Friends Along the Way…

So many other cool and interesting things at IBC this year, from meeting people in the Discord server to seeing H2R graphics actually being used at the OC booth on their Duet 8 ISO product and seeing H2R graphics as an option in the YOLO box for the graphics overlays and so many other interesting conversations with people that I knew before or that I know now. I hope you enjoyed this little recap and I hope to see you there next year if this is the sort of thing you like to go to. And if not, we can always report back from live streams after the show or on the show floor. All right, I’ll see you there. Bye-bye.
