Skaarhoj - NAB 2017 announcements

We recently posted about using a Midi Keyboard to control your ATEM, and this was mainly created for anyone who is on a budget.

There are other options though, and if you are willing to spend some money (but not a massive amount), you may want to take a look at the new range of modular broadcast hardware from Skaarhoj.

Skaarhoj have been making inexpensive hardware solutions for the ATEM for a while, but the launch of UniSketch means that you can customise the panels to your needs.

So, on to the modular design.

XC Series

This is the larger variety of the series and allows you to control 4 channels all the way up to 24 channels - perfect for most live-switching needs.

As you can see, modules sit nicely together and join by magnets (or cables if you'd prefer). This makes perfect sense if you want to start small and scale up!

With the help of UniSketch, all of the buttons can be set to control a whole range of devices, like:

  • Blackmagic Design ATEM
  • vMix
  • PTZ Optics cameras
  • Epiphan Pearl
  • and many more

MC Series

For anyone on a slightly stricter budget - or for constant traveller like us - this smaller range may be a better option.

Here's a selection of the MC Series modules, and you can see that there are plenty of options. We're considering picking up the MC4 for a start and then add an MC6 later for AUX control.

This new set really does make for a whole range of use cases and possibilities.

Other options

In addition to the above, you also have rack-mountable and smaller Micro options to suit all sorts of needs.

You can check out the full details on all of these on the official NAB Brochure that Skaarhoj created!

When we finally get around to getting a Skaarhoj controller, we'll definitely make a video for our Show and Tell series on YouTube!
